Frequently Asked Dentistry Questions – Bowie, MD

Commonly Asked Dental Questions

Is it time for your next checkup and cleaning? Curious about how you should replace your missing teeth? Whatever questions you might have about your dental care, we’re ready to answer them. You’ll find answers to some of the most common questions we receive below, but if there is anything else you’d like to know, don’t hesitate to give us a call—we’re always eager to talk to you and make sure you’re well informed!

How do I know when it’s time to come in for a checkup?

Dr. Hightower recommends that you come in to Ambiance Dental Spa for a checkup and cleaning every six months. That might sound overly frequent, but we want to make sure that we’re keeping a close watch on your oral health and stopping problems before they start. We provide several preventive dentistry services to make sure you stay healthy.

What happens if missing teeth aren’t replaced?

Missing teeth can lead to a number of other dental problems, including losing more teeth! Research shows that if a missing tooth is not replaced, up to 20% of adjacent teeth will fall out over the next four to eight years. Missing teeth also cause the remaining teeth to shift, leading to spaces between teeth, food impaction, bite collapse, chewing alteration, and TMJ pain.

If I’m missing teeth, what do you suggest I do?

First, schedule a consultation with Ambiance Dental Spa. Our dentist can assess your oral health and discuss various tooth replacement options with you. We offer crown and bridgework, partial or full dentures, and dental implants.

How can I improve my smile?

That sounds like an easy question to answer, but it isn't! Your smile is unique, and we won't compromise your individuality with cookie-cutter treatment. Smile design dentistry done right requires an initial consultation in which we will discuss your goals, preferences, and options for care. Generally speaking, we may suggest porcelain veneers, teeth whitening, all-white restorations, and/or replacement teeth. Six Month Smiles or Invisalign may also be involved to correct crooked teeth. After your comprehensive evaluation and consultation, we'll present a smile makeover plan for your new smile.
