To learn a little more about Dr. Hightower and her background, read on below.
Dr. Hightower decided she wanted to be a dentist at 13 years old after her uncle suggested it. Initially, she thought about becoming an astronaut or pediatrician! Her path was set after she learned that her mother, at age 22, had all of her remaining teeth pulled by a dentist in London and replaced with dentures without her knowledge. Dr. Hightower knew that there had to be a better way to practice dentistry, and this brought her to where she is today.
Dr. Hightower grew up in Pickering, Ontario, Canada, and she went on to attend the University of the West Indies (Mona Campus) to study Natural Sciences. She then moved to the U.S. where she attended the Howard University College of Dentistry. In addition to completing an Advanced General Residency, she has worked in various dental offices throughout the Washington Metropolitan area. She also has years of experience working in a pediatric setting.
On top of this, she has dedicated herself to continuing education, particularly courses focused on restorative and cosmetic dentistry. Today, she is a certified provider of both Invisalign as well as Six Month Smiles orthodontics.
Dr. Hightower has family in three different countries, so she takes a lot of trips to see her loved ones throughout the year. At home, when she isn’t spending time with her husband and their toddler, you’ll usually find her reading books about esoteric subjects as well as history.
